Information Privacy Institute, Summer 2013

Privacy Institute 2013

Career Opportunites:

The privacy profession is growing rapidly. For law students, this presents an ideal opportunity to get in on the ground level of a fascinating field. Law firms, banks, insurance companies, businesses, educational institutions, health care providers nearly every enterprise in the United States is obliged to comply with privacy laws and many are hiring JDs who are ready to hit the ground running.

Course Credit / CIPP Certification:

Maine Law's Center for Law and Innovation has partnered with the provider of the CIPP certification and the world's largest privacy professional membership organization, the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), to bring law students a unique 2-week, for-credit program devoted to information privacy law. The second annual Information Privacy Summer Institute will be held June 10-21, 2013 at the IAPP's Portsmouth, NH offices. Students will have the opportunity to sit for the CIPP exam at the conclusion of the program.

Unique Networking Opportunities:

The two-week institute culminates in the Center's annual privacy conference and will coincide with events planned for senior privacy professionals in Portsmouth, giving students unprecedented networking and educational opportunities.
